Native Stigma

Diane Tells His Name is an Oglala Lakota Native American woman who was raised in Southern California. Since discovering the truth about who she is, Diane has been on a mission to dismantle stereotypes within the education system and beyond. In this video, you'll get a glimpse of what it's been like for her to navigate through Native stigma.

Diane stays connected to her Oglala Lakota roots by handcrafting and selling no-face dolls from her studio in Escondido. Each doll is designed with historical significance and has a unique story. Learn more about Diane and the art that she creates here.
