To anyone who is mixed race or lighter skinned, racism damages you even if it seems that colorism often benefits you. This does not mean that your privilege cancels out your pain from experiences of racism. But please, recognize your privilege. Stand up for each other and for those who are fully Black, support one another, stick together and stop letting society turn communities against each other.

To anyone affected by colorism, please use your voice to discuss your experiences. The more that Black men and Black women discuss their traumatic encounters due to colorism, the more likely we are to educate the people around us. Spread knowledge and awareness.

Lastly, to anyone who is White, please acknowledge that skin color matters. The Black community matters and, most importantly, recognize that racism is still here and it is your duty as an ally to help dismantle colorism.
